Body-camera video shows arrest of Reedley man accused of Dinuba double homicide

DINUBA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Newly released body-camera video shows Dinuba police arresting a 43-year-old Reedley man accused of killing his ex-wife and her new boyfriend.

Dinuba police identified the suspect as Miguel Angel Saldana Garcia.

Investigators said the video shows Saldana calm and compliant when he was taken into custody shortly after 5 p.m., following a fatal shooting at a home in the city.

Dinuba Police Chief Abel Iriarte said officers responded to multiple 911 calls from a residence in the 1200 block of Brent Avenue.

"Dinuba Police Department received multiple 911 calls from a residence coming from the 1200 block of Brent Avenue, and when officers responded, they located a male and a female adult, both on the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds," Iriarte said.

Police identified the victims as 51-year-old Jose Medina and 39-year-old Irai Torres, who authorities said left behind multiple children. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Saldana left the scene in a white truck, which was later traced to Reedley.

"He came and left in a white truck and the truck was tracked down in the city of Reedley. Officers and detectives coordinated with the Reedley police department and they were able to find out that he switched vehicles, and a surveillance team was placed on them and followed them all the way back to the city," Iriarte said.

Chief Iriarte said Saldana was tracked back to Dinuba and arrested outside the Dinuba Police Department.

Authorities said it is unclear whether he was attempting to turn himself in at the time of the arrest.

Investigators said they recovered both vehicles involved in the case and believe they also recovered the gun.

"We were able to recover both vehicles that were involved, the first one and the one he switched into. I believe we probably have the gun as well. We are currently serving those warrants and are serving the search warrants at his residence in Reedley," Iriarte said.

Police said Saldana was arrested on murder charges and shared at least one child with Torres.

Meanwhile, the Dinuba Unified School District said it is offering support services because one of the victims was related to a student in the district.

"It is a tragic loss. There is just no doubt about it and it takes time to process and being respectful of family members and being here to support is what we are all about," said Superintendent Marti Kochevar.

The Dinuba Police Department said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the department.
